Your Country : Nigeria

Nigeria is not a poor country.

Let's establish that first.

We have oil, gas, solid minerals, fertile land and 200 million people. Since independence,
Nigeria has earned over $1.23 trillion from oil alone. The money comes in from crude sales,
taxes, customs, investments and foreign grants.

But here's something that should disturb you.
In 2024, out of every ₦10 the government earned, ₦7 went straight to paying back debt. Not
building anything. Not fixing anything. Just repaying loans. As of March 2025, Nigeria's total
debt was ₦149 trillion, which is roughly ₦652,000 for every single Nigerian alive. You didn't sign anything oo. You didn't collect any loan 😂😂.

The government spends money on infrastructure and social programs, on paper 🌚. In 2024, actual construction of roads, hospitals and schools was only 22% of total government
spending. The rest went to salaries, overheads and paying back debt. So when you wonder why the road in your street has been bad since secondary school, now you know. The money for it exists in the budget.

Nigeria is actually the world's capital for oil theft. That's not an insult, lol, it's a documented fact.
Between 2009 and 2020 alone, Nigeria lost about 620 million barrels of crude valued at $46
billion to oil theft. And it didn't stop in 2020. There are confirmed allegations of collusion
between security forces and government officials in carrying out the theft.

Government audits once found nearly 24,000 employees on the federal payroll who simply DID
NOT exist. Real salaries. Real money is leaving the account. No real person is collecting. That's just one audit, one administration, one level of government. Multiply that by 36 states, local
governments and decades of zero accountability. At least 17 states spent more than 50% of
their own revenue on debt servicing in 2024. They can't build anything because they're paying
for money they already spent and wasted.

There's also the oil dependence problem nobody wants to fix. Over 83% of Nigeria's total export revenue comes from petroleum. One commodity. One source. One point of failure. When oil prices drop globally, which they do very often, the whole country feels it. Nigeria produced 408 million barrels of crude in 2024 and still didn't hit its own production target.

We're not even maximising what we have, and what we have is all we're depending on. This is
not a poor country. This is a country that refuses to diversify. Despite earning over $1.23 trillion
from oil, Nigeria has faced persistent poverty, unemployment and inequality. Wealth is
generated. It passes through the system. It pays debt, funds ghost workers, and only a small
percentage of oil revenue directly benefits public welfare; most is absorbed by administrative
costs or lost to corruption.

Your country is not poor fr. Your country is just being robbed!!, tenure after tenure after tenure.

Talking about Nigeria's finance irks me fr, especially when I have to fact check, and I meet more depressing stuff.
